Pest Control for Woodworm
Woodworm and rot are the two biggest threats to structural timbers in homes and business across Yorkshire.
Due to the combination of a predominantly damp climate and the traditional building methods used in construction, properties are susceptible to woodboring insect and fungal attacks. Various types of wet rot, dry rot and woodworm, can individually or collectively cause untold damage to the structural timbers in buildings, resulting in costly remedial repairs and treatment.
Possible signs of a woodworm problem:
• Small round holes in woodwork
• Fine, powdery dust around these holes
• Crumbly edges to boards and joists
• Adult beetles emerging from the holes or present in windowsills and other surfaces around the house
MJ Backhouse’s woodworm control technicians are fully qualified and on hand to diagnose the type and extent of infestation and decay as well as to provide a cost effective long-term solution to the problem and treat any such infestation.
Initially we will identify the species and whether the infestation is still active. We then treat the woodworm infestation and also carry out a structural test to determine whether the timber is treatable or needs replacing.
Our range of treatments are clean and simple and vary depending on the property type but from our experience the treatment process will usually involve the cleaning down of affected timbers and the dual application of specialist treatment fluids and gels.
MJ Backhouse’s woodworm control service only use wood preservatives and masonry biocides that combine maximum effectiveness, the lowest levels of environmental hazards and also comply to our stringent health and safety policy.
